CUSTOM AUTO-ANSWER is designed to allow the subscriber to provide a custom message
to the caller, in the event the call is not answered within 4 rings.
The message can be up to 60 seconds long. However, it is recommended that the
message be as brief as possible, since the call cannot be picked up by
PHONEPOWER® during the time the Auto-Answer Message is playing. 20-30 seconds is the recommended time.
You may change the content of your greeting as often as you wish, by following the procedure below.
Some recommended elements for your greeting might include:

THANK the caller for calling.

Identify your company.
-
[Optional:] Identify that they have reached your Message Center.

[Optional:] If you wish to skip this message, please press “0”.**

Your office hours.
-
A statement that all representatives/staff/operators are busy taking other calls, or that this is a period of high call
volume.

Your call is important to us.
-
Please remain on the line [ or “stand by”] and someone will be with you as soon as possible.

We appreciate your patience during this period of high call volume.

Any other information you wish to say, such as
-
This after-hours service is for emergencies. If this call is not regarding an emergency, please call back during regular business hours.

Advice of the type of information that will be
needed during the call, such as account number, credit card number, etc. (This is so they have the information available, and do
not prolong the call.)

A brief message about something current to your business.
** Repeat/frequent callers will want to get to a Telephone Secretary as soon as possible, and will not want to listen
to the entire message every time they call. Pressing “0” helps to expedite the call.
Set-Up Procedure:
1. Once you are
ready to record your greeting, contact a Supervisor to request that the Auto-Answer code be “turned on” for your account. [Although the feature may be set up, callers will hear the standard “Thank you for calling, we’ll be right with you” until the Custom Auto-Answer is turned on.]
2. Dial the
number closest to you from the list below.
3. Enter your
“Mailbox” Number, which is ____________________________.
4. When
prompted, enter your Passcode, which is __________________________.
5. Press “8”
for “User Options”.
6. Press “4”
to “Change Greeting”.
7. Press “2”
to begin the recording. (When finished recording, press any key.)
8. Press “4”
to SAVE the greeting. Other options are “2” to ADD more to your message, “3” to ERASE the message, “7” to REVIEW the message.
9. Once you have
saved the greeting, you may simply hang up.
10. You may TEST the greeting by
calling during a busy time (The greeting will NOT play if the call is answered within 4 rings.)
